At least four people were killed and three injured in three seperate road accidents in Narayanganj, Gopalganj and Sirajganj districts yesterday.
In Langalbondo of Bandar upazila under Narayanganj, a truck hit a women police constable , leaving her dead on the spot while she was crossing the road.
The deceased was identified as Rokeya Begum, 19, daughter of Alauddin. She joined the police force before one and a half year.
Police arrested the truck driver Lutfur Rahman and seized the truck.
Akter Morshed, officer-in-charge of Bandar police sttaion said: ”Rokeya was working as a reserve force in Narayanganj police line. She was returning after finishing her duty.”
In Ulpur area of Gopalganj Sadar upazila, a child was crushed under the wheels of a bus.
The deceased was identified as Imran Sheikh,9, son of Mujibur Rahman.
SI Sumon Bhokto said: ” A Tekerhat bound bus hit the child,leaving him dead on the spot while he was playing on the road.”
In Sirajganj, a prison van, carrying two crimials, turned turtle killing a police contable and a padestrian. Three others were injured in the incident.
The deceased were identified as Munir Hossain, 30, constable of Gazipur police line and Surjo Mondol, 70, padestrian.
The accident took place around 9.30am in Mulibari area of Sirajganj Sadar upazila.
Bongobondhu Bridge West police station Officer-in-Charge Aminul Islam and Inspector Miladul Huda said the criminals Hitler and Shamim were taken to Sirajganj Judge Court from Kashimpur Prison of Gazipur to produce before the court.Suddenly the driver lost control over the steering and the van turned turtle, leaving the duo dead on the spot.
The bodies were sent to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital morgue.
