Over 100 injured in Habiganj clash

Over 100 people have been injured in a fierce clash between the inhabitants of Joynagar and Godainagar villages over a previous enmity and the establishment of supremacy at Habiganj Sadar upazila on Saturday night.

Police sources said Joynagar village resident Haji Rangon Mia and Godainagar village resident Haji Muhammad Ali locked into a feud in the evening which triggered a fierce clash between the villagers that left over 100 people injured from both sides.

40 of the injured villagers were admitted to Habiganj Sadar Hospital.

Upon receiving this information, police rushed to the spot and opened 25 rounds of rubber bullets and deployed 19 tear shells to bring the situation under control.

Habiganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mojammel Haque told the Dhaka Tribune that additional police were deployed to avert further untoward situations.
