I don’t want to be a hero only: Arifin Shuvoo

Arifin Shuvoo has already made a niche for himself in the action genre and the audience appreciates him in varied roles. The model turned actor has made his debut on silver screen three years back. But his performance in Agnee, one of the most successful films in the history of Dhallywood made his position strong enough to compete with any of the mega heroes of the industry.

Dhaka Tribune caught up with the talented actor who is now busy with his upcoming films titled Tarkanta and Kistimat.

Tell us about your roles in Kistimat and Tarkanta.

In Kistimaat, I have played the role of a police officer. But the character is not of a stereotypical “police officer” of Bangladeshi cinema.  My female counterpart in the movie is the talented Achol. On the other hand, Tarkanta is a movie about humour, action, romance and drama. I am playing the role of a don. Here, I have paired up with Mim.

It took you a while to gain popularity among the audience of the silver screen. What is your point of view regarding this?

Like in nature, a hill takes its time to grow and form a strong foundation which cannot be demolished easily. I want to be like that hill which is not fragile. It is a fact that it took time to establish myself. But I want to create a solid ground in this filmdom.

Tell us about your experience of working with veteran actors?

I feel fortunate to have gotten the opportunity to work with many talented and experienced actors. Every time, they worked as a tutorial guide in my acting skills. I am sure these learning prospect would work in my favour in the future.

Do you feel lucky to be in Dhallywood?

Luck and effort both work hand in hand. Another factor is my strong will to succeed, without which I don’t believe I would have reached so far.

What is your X factor to sustain in this film industry?

I try to deal smartly with the industry people. Side by side, honesty plays a very important role. Whatever I am doing, my passion and commitment are required in every film.

What drives you the most?

There is no easy path for anyone. However, there are people who inspire and welcome the new comers. Their encouragement drives me to develop myself each and every day.

What is your opinion about the films of the current time?

The era is about technological advancement. If there is a lacking somewhere, advancement in technology will help to resolve it. But, the films have good scripts and stories. The industry needs more young talents to satisfy the demand of the new generation.

Among the characters you played so far, which one is close to your heart?

The role in Purno Doirgho Prem Kahini is close to my heart. In the future, I want to explore a wide range of characters.

Do you want to be a mainstream actor?

I want to create an image of a superstar like Uttam Kumar, who was not only a hero, but also an excellent actor.

What more is waiting on the cards?

I have signed for six more films. But you have to wait for a while to know the details.
