With the slogan - Egiye Choli Bhobishyot Srijone - National Film Day 2014 inaugurated yesterday at the open premises of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC). The day is being observed since the government declared a special day to celebrate the Bangladeshi film industry. This is the third year of celebrating the event.
BFDC has designed and celebrated the occasion with various programmes. The entire BFDC premises was decorated with collected posters from the Bangladesh Film Archive. Saat Bhai Chompa, Behula, Ora Egaro Jon to Guerilla and many more exclusive collections of film posters from the archive gave the BFDC a lively and familiar appearance to the viewers.
There was also a photography exhibition held at a lobby of BFDC. The exhibition focused on the Liberation War of 1971, history of films, culture and national issues. Some exclusive moments from behind the camera was also exhibited. Collected photographs of eminent actors and actresses also captured the limelight of the exhibition, while exclusive film posters such as, Surjokonya, Lathiyal, Asia, Dumurer Phul, Ayna O Oboshistho and many more also caught the viewer’s curiosity and attraction.
There was also a fair held at the open premises of BFDC. Some upcoming films were promoted on the occasion, such as Game, Ek Cup Chaa, Dobir Shaheber Shongshar and Prem Korbo Tomar Shathe. There was a stall which introduced the filmmaking technologies and instruments to the visitors. Exclusive movies and audios were also available for movie lovers.
Another fun and attractive aspect of the programme was the performances of celebrated film stars in colourful attires which kept the audience well entertained throughout the duration. The day-long celebrations wrapped up at Hatirjheel through a fanush and fireworks display.
Honourable Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu inaugurated the programme. Later, the members of the film industry brought out a procession from the BFDC premises. Eminent film personalities and young stars were also present at the inaugural ceremony. Eminent film actor Abdur Razzak was the convener of the National Film Day Observing Committee.
