A seven-year-old boy has gone missing as a boat capsized in the Karnafuli River in the port city after being hit by an Oil tanker.
The missing boy is Sunny, 7, son of Jahangir.
The Sadarghat-bound boat, locally known as Sampan, has left Bridgheghat area of the port city with 11 passengers on board.
Witnesses said the incident occurred around 4:30pm when an oil-tanker hit the boat.
Although 10 people could manage to swim ashore, Sunny went missing, locals said.
Officer-in-Charge Md Mohiuddin of Karnafuli police station said police and fire brigade members were trying to rescue the boy. Besides, coast guard members were also expected to join hands in the rescue drive.
