50 injured in Habiganj clash

Some 50 people have been injured in a clash between two groups over previous enmity at Korab village under Lakhai upazila in Habiganj on Thursday morning.

Locals said Korab village resident Sawkat Ali harassed a school girl, daughter of Dr Rongu Mia, of the same village.

Over the matter, two groups locked into a clash with each other with local weapons around 11am that left 50 people injured.

However, Lakhai police station Officer-in-Charge Nazim Uddin said: “The villagers locked into a clash over the feud of previous enmity.”

On information, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Later, the injured were admitted to Habiganj Sadar Hospital.
