Bangladesh Army and Navy personnel will be deployed in the United Nations (UN) Peacekeeping Operations in West African country Mali for the first time.
A total of 1,446 members of the Army and the Navy including an infantry unit, two signal units, an engineer unit, a navy unit and a riverine unit will be deployed in the African state, reports BSS.
A 112-member team of UN peacekeepers, led by Col M Jahangir Harun AFWC, PSC, left Dhaka for Mali on Tuesday.
Remaining UN peacekeepers will depart for Mali in different phases.
