PM to brief secretaries April 7

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to brief secretaries and top bureaucrats on April 7 in the first official meeting of secretaries after the ruling government’s assumption of office.

She will be describing the government’s policies and provide top-level bureaucrats with key directives, Cabinet Secretary Md Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told reporters following the monthly meeting of secretaries yesterday.

“The cabinet secretary usually holds the monthly meeting of secretaries. The premier, however, holds meeting with the secretaries once a year. She generally briefs the top bureaucrats on the policies and planning of the government,” he said.

The first meeting of secretaries will be held on April 7 and it will speed up activities of the administration, Musharraf added.

Speaking of yesterday’s meeting, the cabinet secretary said 24 out of 61 secretaries attended it and took part in the discussion. They raised a number of subjects for discussion and also received instructions on several others.

The secretaries were also instructed to send important documents to the national archive and update websites of their respective ministries and divisions.

They were also asked to update the standard of the monthly and annual reports and finalise the action plans of the ministry and divisions.
