The candidates backed by the ruling Awami League have unofficially won the chairman posts in six upazilas in the fifth and last phase of upazila poll held on Monday.
Barguna Sadar: In Barguna Sadar upazila, the Awami League-supported candidate Abbas Hossain Mantu has elected unofficially the chairman position, bagging 45,381 votes.
Patharghata, Barguna: Rafiqul Islam Ripon, affiliated by the Awami League, has won the post of chairman in Patharghata upazila, getting 61, 942 votes.
Bamna, Barguna: Awami League-backed candidate Saitul Islam Litu has won Bamna upazila parishad poll, receiving 31,033 votes, reports our Barguna correspondent.
Pakundia, Kishoreganj: Awami League-backed candidate Rafiqul Islam Renu has unofficially won in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj district, reports our Kishoreganj correspondent.
Renu has bagged 46,995 votes and his nearest BNP-backed candidate Akhtaruzzaman got 44,299 votes.
Juri, Sylhet: MA Mumit, the candidate supported by the ruling Awami League, has unofficially declared winner of the chairman post in Juri upazila of Sylhet district, says our Sylhet correspondent.
Mumit has got 28,433 votes and his nearest BNP-backed candidate Nasir Uddin Ahmed received 20,105 votes.
Mirzapur, Tangail: Awami League-backed candidate Mir Enayet Hossain has won Mirzapur upazila parishad poll, receiving 78,271votes, reports our Tangail correspondent
