Four people have been killed and another 13 injured as a passenger bus rammed a battery run three-wheeler at Fakirertokeya area on Rangpur-Kurigram highway in Lalmonirhat district on Monday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Farida Begum, 36, Reaz Miah, 46, Badiar Rahman, 65 and Nuruzzaman Miah, 48, hailed from Fakirertokeya village of Lalmonirhat sadar upazila.
Lalmonirhat Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed the deaths to the Dhaka Tribune.
Witnesses said a Kurigram bound bus hit a battery-run three wheeler in Barabarihat area as the bus driver lost control over its steering around 6pm, leaving four people dead on the spot and scores others injured.
The injured were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Some of them are in critical condition.
Later, locals seized the bus. However, driver and helper managed to flee the scene.
