A rebel candidate of Awami League has boycotted the poll and demanded re-polling in Lakshmipur sadar upazila alleging vote rigging and death threat on Monday morning.
Awami League rebel candidate Mohiuddin Bokul made the announcement at his residence in sadar upazila around 10:30am.
He said: “The supporters of Awami League backed candidate AKM Salauddin Tipu casted my agents out of all the polling centres and stamped seal in the ballot papers.”
Bokul claimed: “Some criminals and RAB members had come to my house around 12am midnight and beat me up. They snatched away my mobile phone and gave me death threats.”
“They warned me not to go out of the house till the vote is ended today [Monday] otherwise they will put me in cross fire,” he added.
