The Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman M Bodiuzzman has urged people not to doubt about the commission’s sincerity about the ongoing inquiry against some ruling party lawmakers.
The ACC chief made the call while addressing a human chain in front of the National Press Club marking the corruption prevention week.
“Please wait and see, don’t be disappointed, trust our activities. We will take legal action against all people involved with corruption,” he said.
Bodiuzzman said the previous commissions did not take any action against the ruling party men but the present commission has taken initiatives.
“It would be an ongoing process, we won’t spare anyone,” he added.
Following media reports on the phenomenal rise of wealth and assets of seven lawmakers, the ACC on January 22 began inquiry into the wealth of three former ministers, three lawmakers from ruling Awami League and a former lawmaker from Jatiya Party.
They are former health minister AFM Ruhal Haq, former state minister for housing and public works Abdul Mannan Khan, former state minister for water resources Mahbubur Rahman, and lawmakers Abdur Rahman Badi of Cox’s Bazar 4, Aslamul Haque of Dhaka 14, Enamul Haque of Rajshahi 4 and former lawmaker from Satkhira 2 Abdul Jabbar.
