Eight people, including an SSC examinee, were killed in separate road accidents in five districts on Saturday.
Rabiya, 8, was crashed by a bus at Jorpul in Savar upazila near Dhaka when she was crossing the road. Savar police confirmed the incident.
In Gazipur, SSC examinee Ashiqul Islam was killed when a bus of SA Paribahan coming from Rangpur ran over him while he was crossing the Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Naojor Bypass area in the morning. Police seized the bus.
A prison guard named Ashraf Hossain, 28, of Kashimpur Central Jail was killed and another injured when their motorbike was hit by a covered van on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in front of Konabari Central Hospital in the afternoon.
In Kushtia, a van puller named Siddique, 38, was killed when a microbus hit his vehicle on the Kushtia-Chuadanga Highway at Khazanagar in sadar upazila. Police recovered the body and sent it to the Kushtia General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
In Narshingdhi, three people were killed when a bus collided with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at the Narayanpur bus stand on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway. Bhairab Highway Police Station confirmed the incident.
In Natore, a shoe trader died in a road accident at Baraigram upazila in the afternoon. Deceased Abul Kalam Azad, 52, was a resident of Gormati village.
SI Jahir Uddin of Banpara highway police said Azad was waiting beside the Gormati Road on the Natore-Pabna highway with his motorcycle when a mini truck dashed him. Local people rescued him but he died while being taken to the Banpara Clinic. Police seized the mini truck.
