Children of War was supposed to release on December 27, 2013 in India, but the complexity over the title of the film delayed its schedule. Recently, the release date is rescheduled to April 25, but the audience of Bangladesh will be able to watch the film before the Indian timeline. The Khan Brothers in Bangladesh is importing the film from Kolkata’s J K Enterprise.
Sudipto Das of the Khan Brothers said: “In the meantime, the obligatory approvals are received from the related ministries. The film is submitted before the censor board aiming to release in the first week of April. Considering the censor certificate, we have planned to release the film on April 18. The entirely digital manufactured film will be released in few cinemas in the country altogether.”
The dubbing of the film in Bengali is done and subtitle is also set up where Urdu dialogue appears. Previously the movie faced hurdles due to its earlier title The Bastard Child and Mrityunjay Devvrat was urged by the censor board to change the film’s title to Children of War.
Children of War is based on the Bangladesh genocide in 1971 where thousands of women were raped and the resulting illegitimate children during the war for the liberation of Bangladesh. The film depicts the 9 months of inhuman attacks of the Pakistani army during the genocide that took place in East Pakistan in 1971 and the struggle of the Bangladeshis to attain independence from these atrocities. Directed by Mrityunjay Devvrat and produced by Soumya Devvrat, the film has notable stars like Raima Sen, Indraneil Sengupta, Farooq Sheikh, Tillotama Shome and Victor Banerjee, among others.
