Record electricity produced

A fresh record has been created for power generation in the country as Bangladesh saw 7032MW supplied to the national grid on Thursday.

Power Development Board (PDB) acknowledged the new record at 7:30pm, PDB Director (Public Relations) Saiful Hasan Chowdhury told the Dhaka Tribune.

He said: “For first time the power generation crossed 7000MW. It’s a record.”

The previous feat of power generation was 6,884MW recorded on March 18.

Currently, the demand of power is around 6,500-7,000MW during peak hours, Saiful Hasan said. “There is no difference between demand and supply.”

On November 12 last year, Bangladesh celebrated 10,000MW power generation capacity.
