Ex-PMO staff held at secretariat for illicit entry

Two including an “expelled staff” of the Prime Minister’s Office have been held for trying to enter Bangladesh Secretariat with PMO pass.

Later, another man was detained for trying to bail the duo identifying himself to be relative of a PMO official. The three were handed over to police.

The two were a former personal officer Abu Saleh Mollah, dismissed for “involvement with fraudulences,” and his associate Abdul Gafur, a garment worker.

The duo confessed to their actions after being challenged by law enforcement agencies while entering the secretariat on Thursday noon.

They were released after being handed over to Secretariat Security Branch Police, its Additional Deputy Commissioner Mashiur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune.

Mollah was dismissed for fraudulence with the identity of a PMO staff, he said. “He did not return his PMO pass and used it to enter the secretariat.”

Later, one Jahid Sohag, tried to bail them out identifying himself as a relative of one official employed at the PMO, Mashiur Rahman said.

“The three have been handed over to Shahbagh police as per recommendation of the Prime Minister’s Office,” the official added.
