Freedom fighters of Gomastapur in Chapainawabganj yesterday boycotted an Independence Day programme to make the world record of participants singing the national anthem.
At a press conference yesterday, local Muktijoddha Sangram Rakkha Committee Convener Aktar Ali Kochi Khan made an announcement in this regard.
He alleged that local BNP-Jamaat activists on December 11 last year assaulted some freedom fighters for joining the Victory Day’s programme in Mokarampur area.
Though the committee filed a case in this regard on December 12, police were yet to arrest the attackers even three months, he added, and claimed that police helped them to get bail form court.
Yesterday the freedom fighters submitted a memorandum at several government offices demanding cancelation of the bail of the accused and necessary actions be taken against them.
He said they boycotted yesterday’s programme protesting the incident.
