UZ poll result: AL wins 9, BNP 2, Jamaat 2

The candidates affiliated with the ruling Awami League have unofficially won in three upazilas, the Jamaat-e-Islami in two upazilas while the BNP-backed candidate won two  chairman posts in the fourth phase of upazila poll held on Sunday.

Awami League-backed candidate Ataowl Haque has elected unofficially the chairman post in Bowalkhali upazila polls.

He bagged 88,902 votes and his nearest BNP-backed candidate Badrus Mihir got 29,224 votes. 

AL backed Mojibor Rahman Khalek received 50,990 defeating Aliza Zama of BNP (16,905 votes) in chairman post at Pirojpur Sadar Upazilla

AL backed Ashrafur Rahman received 1, 04, 970 votes defeating Ruhul Amin Dulal of BNP (13,921 votes) in chairman post at Mathbaria Upazilla

In Sylhet Sadar upazila, Awami League-backed Ashfaque Ahmed won the upazila chairman post as he got 45,149 votes while his nearest BNP-backed candidate Abul Kaher Shamim bagged 30,091 votes.    

Awami League-backed candidate Firoz Ahmed has elected unofficially the chairman post in Kalaroa upazila polls.

He bagged 80,443 votes and his nearest Jamaat-backed candidate Shahidul Islam got 30,441 votes. 

In Kanaihaat upazila, the BNP candidate Ashique Choudhwry elected unofficially the chairman position.

His nearest candidate was Awami League-backed Nizam Uddin Al Mizan.

Ashique bagged 27,399 votes while Nizam got 20,813 votes.

In Chauhali upazila, the BNP candidate Abdullah Al Mamun elected unofficially the chairman position.

His nearest candidate was Awami League-backed Mahmudul Alam.

Mamun bagged 22,107 votes while Alam got 16,207 votes.

 Jamaat-e-Islami-backed candidate Mostafizur Rahman has won the chairman position in Panchbibi upazila parishad election defeating his nearest Awami League candidate Abu Sayed Al Mahboob Chandan.

In the poll, Jamaat has got 74,284 votes while AL bagged 38,587 votes.

Meanwhile, in Zianagar upazila poll, Masud Bin Sayedee, son of convicted war criminal Delwar Hossain Sayedee, has won the chairman position defeating his nearest Awami League candidate Abdul Khalek Gazi.

Sayedee’s son has got 21,152 votes while AL-backed candidate bagged 6, 522 votes in the poll.
