A presiding officer of of Shaharasti upazila, Chandpur has been withdrawn for what authorities said negligence towards duty and violating rules.
Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner ASA Mainuddin withdrew Delwar Hossain, presiding officer of Noagaon Government Primary School voting station, on Saturday night.
District Polling Officer Ataur Rahman confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune on Sunday morning. “He has been withdrawn for negligence to duty and violating rules.”
However, the official did not mention the specific reason behind the suspension of the presiding officer.
But, sources said the withdrawal was made after Delwar Hossain dined at a neighbour's place on Saturday night, what is a violation of rules.
Meanwhile, 30 ballot papers were cancelled in Rahmania High School centre after chaos. Chandpur police Superintendent visisted the spot.
