Troublemakers to polls will be punished, says acting CEC

Acting chief election commissioner Abdul Mobarak has warned of taking stern action against those who will try to create violence during the upazila parishad election.

He made the remark while briefing journalists on the fourth phase of the upazila parishad election scheduled to be held on Sunday.

He also urged all to refrain from violence during the election.

Abdul Mobarak said: “As per the law, the upazila parishad election should be out of political involvement. However, it is being observed that the political parties are engaged in violent competition to ensure majority in the election.”

“Do not try to snatch votes and people’s rights,” he added.
