Dhaka Executive Magistrate Sifata-e-Jahan seized 120kg of Jatka from the possession of the six fish traders and fined them.

RAB 2 Operation Officer Raihan Uddin Khan said law enforcers raided Kawranbazar from 6am to 8am and caught the six traders red handed.

“They have been fined after admitting their crime,” he said.

The six have been identified as Raj Burman, 24, Manik Miah, 25, Md Sohag, 30, Shahid Alam, 45, Sumon Sheikh, 22, and Arif Hossain, 26.

Sale of Jatka is prohibited and highly discouraged in the country for protecting the interests of the produce of the Hilsha, the national fish of Bangladesh.
