Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor has rejected the rumour of taking financial aid from Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited for the program of March 26.
The minister made the statement in a press briefing at the ministry on Tuesday afternoon.
Noor said: “The national anthem is close to our soul. We did not take any kind of aid as people’s emotions are involved with the anthem.”
“We did not invite Islami Bank in the meeting with all the banks, though it’s a legal bank,” said Noor.
About the program, he said: “A theme song for the program will be telecasted from Wednesday.”
“Famous artists of our country will take part in a cultural program on that day,” Noor added.
Bangladesh is eyeing to create a world record on singing the national anthem on March 26, the Independence Day.
At least 300,000 people would congregate on the National Parade Ground in the capital on the day to sing the national anthem in a bid to set a new Guinness World Record.
Both ministers expressed hope that everyone at educational institutions, upazila and district headquarters would join the chorus simultaneously.
