Prisoner dies at Kashimpur Jail

A condemned prisoner has died at Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur on Monday morning.

The deceased is Jamal Mridha, 33, son of Latif Mridha, of Elisha village in Bhola. He was a convict of a murder and arms cases.

Jail sources said jail authority rushed Jamal to Gazipur Sadar Hospital when he experienced chest pain in the morning.

Gazipur Sadar Hospital duty doctor Md Shahin said: “He died before being rushed to the hospital.”

Senior Jail Super Abdur Razzak said: “Jamal was suffering from heart disease from before. The Jail doctor referred him to Gazipur Sadar Hospital when he said that he felt pain in his chest around 8am.”

“The duty doctor declared him dead when rushed to the hospital,” he said.

He said Jamal was a convict in two murder cases lodged with Shah Ali police station and an arms case filed with Pallabi police station in the capital.

Jamal was sent to Kashimpur Jail on January 24, the jail super added.
