At least 15 people have been injured in a clash between the supporters of Awami League and BNP in Shilasthan Government Primary School polling centre of Bitara union in Kachua upazila on Saturday morning.
Vote casting has been suspended in the centre immediately after the clash.
Polling in two other centres have also been suspended following violence.
Chandpur Assistant Police Super Shaikat Shahin confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
Local sources said BNP activists tried to prevent the supporters of AL-backed candidate Ishak Sikder, as they were trying to cast fake votes. At one stage, they locked into clashes. Police fired four rounds of bullets to disperse them.
BNP-backed candidate Shahjalal Pradhan claimed that his agents have been barred in 15 polling centers.
However, Kachua police station Officer-in-Charge Alamgir Hossain said: “We are trying our best to complete vote casting in a fair way.”
