Inu: Change mindset towards women

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has called for changing the mindset towards women for establishing their rights in the society.

He made the call in a seminar on “Position of women in journalism” held at the Jatiya Press Club on Friday, reports BSS.

He said: “We have to establish the rights of women by ensuring their equal participation in all the development sectors.”

The information minister pointed out communalism, fanaticism and militancy as being the main obstacles towards establishing women's rights.

He said: “Everyone should work together to ensure equal participation of women in society.”

Referring to women empowerment, Inu said: “The present government has been working to establish women’s rights by empowering them in different sectors.”

He said the women were enjoying more freedom and dignity due to the initiatives taken by the government in this regard.

Meanwhile, the minister urged both men and women to work together in order to establish rights of women and build a happy and prosperous nation.

Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Secretary General Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan, Union of Journalists (DUJ) President Dhaka Altaf Mahmud, General Secretary Quddus Afrad, among others, spoke in the programme.
