Communications Minister Obaidul Quader has ordered to close an executive engineer of Roads and Highways Department on charge of negligence of duty on Wednesday.
AKM Abdus Salam Khan was asked to join at Dhaka office immediately.
Obaidul Quader was addressing there as a special guest at a meeting on proposed Balashi Ferry Ghat and connecting road organised by district administration at the Circuit House around 1pm.
In the middle of his speech, the minister drew the attention of the executive engineer of RHD.
In response, executive engineer AKM Abdus Salam Khan stood up and gave his identity to the minister.
Then, Obaidul Quader wanted to know about the progress of the development works of some schemes in the area.
As the engineer failed to implement the order instructed by the minister a few months ago, the minister asked the additional chief engineer of RHD, Arifur Rahman to withdraw him without delay.
When contacted, executive engineer AKM Abdus Salam Khan admitted about the incident however, denied making any comments in this regard.
