Two officials of the Bangladesh Railway have been suspended over a collision between a train and a human hauler that left four workers dead.
Meanwhile, two probe committees have been formed and a lawsuit has been filed regarding this incident, which took place in Chittagong on Tuesday morning.
Jalalihat Railway Station Master Nezam Uddin and transport department points-man Titu Kanti Das have been suspended, Bangladesh Railway (East) General Manager Mohammad Makbul Ahmad said.
“They were not in their respective positions when the incident took place,” the railway official said.
A case has been lodged in connection to this incident, Chittagong Government Railway police station Officer-in-Charge Yasin Faruk said.
Bangladesh Railway (East) Public Relations Officer Jobeda Akhter said two probe committees have been formed and asked to submit a report in three days.
Four female garment workers died and at least seven others were injured when the train rammed into the human hauler in the port city's Jalalihat area.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner (north) Mohammad Shahidullah said the four died on the spot.
The driver of the human hauler was nabbed.
