59 crude bombs recovered in capital

At least 59 crude bombs along with huge quantities of leaflets, posters, banners and other publications of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir have been recovered from a library at the capital’s Banglabazar on Monday night.

Members of Sutrapur police station made the seizure by conducting a raid at the library named ‘Imaniyat’ and the owner of the library named Abul Hasan was also arrested, said Inspector Khalilur Rahman Paywary, officer-in-charge of Sutrapur police station.

Talking to the Dhaka Tribune, the OC said: “Acting on a tip-off, we raided the library located on the Brookline Road in Banglabazar and during the raid from 8:00pm, we found 59 crude bombs, huge leaflets, posters and banners from the house.”

“The library house had been running by the pro-Jamaat-Shibir people, who had preserved all of these explosives for carrying out subversive activities”, said tthe OC, adding: “The detained man named Abul Hasan is an active member of Jamaat.”
