Two people have been killed and eight others injured as a bus collided with a truck at Khalkula area on Hatikumrul-Banpara highway under Tarash upazila in Sirajganj on Monday.
The deceased was identified as truck driver Rashedul Islam, 26, son of Abul Hossain, of Jahangirgati village and labour Zakirul Islam, son of Aksed Ali, of the same village.
Tarash police station Sub-Inspector Mojaharul Islam said: “The truck driver lost control over its steering and it fell into a roadside ditch when a Dhaka-bound bus of National Travels hit it from behind at Khalkula area around 12pm on Monday.”
He said: “The truck driver and labour died on the spot. The injured have been admitted to different local hospitals.”
Later, police seized the truck and the bus.
Meanwhile, a case has been filed over the accident.
