PM for forming school fund to cut dropouts

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon the school authorities of the country to form funds in a bid to reduce the number of dropouts.

The premier made the call while inaugurating the National Primary Education Week 2014 at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Sunday morning.

“The government has printed 1.5 crore books for pre-primary education so that the children can get education before taking admission to schools,” she said.

She also said BNP-Jamaat activists destroyed 582 educational institutions before and during the 10th general election.

The prime minister put forward a question that she would like to ask the opposite party. She asked: “Do they not want our children to be educated?”

She expressed hope that people will co-operate with the government to prevent such activities.
