Goldsmith 'disappeared' in Chittagong

A goldsmith of Chittagong city’s Hathazari Lane who is identified as Bappa Dhar, 23, has gone missing from Friday afternoon, says his family.

Badal Dhar, father of the ‘missing’ goldsmith, lodged a general dairy with Kotwali police station on Saturday afternoon.

AKM Mohiudin Selim, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station, said Bappa talked with his family members over mobile phone around 10am on Friday and told that he was going to Patiya upazila to deliver an order of jewelry.

But, Bappa’s mobile phone was found switched off after noon while the family was informed that he did not go to his destination on Friday.

The OC said his mobile found switched off and police are trying to track his mobile while they were looking into the matter.

It may be mentioned that some miscreants giving their identities as RAB and DB men picked up a gold trader, Mridul Chowdhury, in front of his residence in the port city on February 11.

He was later rescued alive in Comilla on February 18 as the abductors left him there.
