PM: Women, realise your rights

Rights for the women have to be realised by the women themselves, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said on the occasion of International Women's Day.   “Do not think that we are spared because we do politics,” she said. “We had to endure a lot of struggle to reach the position at what we are today.”   The premier was speaking at the ceremony for International Women's Day in Bangladesh at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital on Saturday.   “The women have to build their own fate. In everyday life, it is the women who have to work harder.”   Everyone needs to become aware in order to ensure fair rights and respect for women, Hasina said. “Men and women must take the country forward together”, she said.   “Bangladesh has become a role model in the world with limited resources,” she said. “The women must progress regardless of any side-talks.”   Saturday marked the worldwide observation of International Women's Day with this year's theme “Equality for women is progress for all.”
