'Vested quarter misleading JnU students'

A vested interested group has been trying to mislead the students’ movement to recover illegally the occupied Jagannath University halls, said State Minister for Rural Development and Cooperative Masiur Rahman Ranga.

He claimed that as a result a section of the students on Tuesday captured the Cooperative Bank’s land beside the university.

Terming the bank’s land capture as “so sad,” the state minister said: “It is a property of around 15m cooperative activists and their families. The government has already finalised its plan to construct a high rise building on the land. The authority has already given financial allocation and approval of design in this regard.”

Expressing his determination to construct the building, Ranga said: “It was a desire of the cooperative activists that a high rise building would be constructed on the land. We will try to do everything to fulfil the desire of the people.”

Urging the students to be alert, the state minister said the students must be alert as a third party cannot take advantages of illegally capturing the bank’s land.
