Three separate incidents of fire have been reported in the capital’s Mirpur, Gendaria and Uttara. Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) officials said fire broke out at Jhut Potti of Milk Vita Bosti in Section-10 of Mirpur around 11:50am while another incident of fire took place in Gendaria around 11:55am. Meanwhile, another fire broke out at the warehouse of RAK Paint on Jasim Uddin Road of Sector-3 in Uttara around 11:50am. Shahjadi Sultana, mobilising officer at the FSCD headquarters said: “Four units of the fire-fighters are trying to douse the fire at the slum in Mirpur.” “Four other units of the FSCD were putting out the fire at the warehouse of the paint company in Uttara, while three units have rushed to Gendaria to douse the fire.” Shahjadi said the causes of the fire incidents could be not known immediately and no casualties have been reported yet. She said: “The damages and losses in the fire incidents could not be ascertained as the fire-fighters are still trying to bring the fire under their control.” Police said they have been assisting fire-fighters to put out the fire and rescue the victims in the areas of Uttara, Mirpur and Gendaria.
