'Offer to shelter Hindus encouraging for fundamentalists'

If India offers shelter to Hindus, fundamentalists in Bangaldesh will be encouraged to go there, says Nasiruddin Yusuf Bacchu.

On Sunday, Nasiruddin said: “If India says that the Hindus will be given shelter in India, if they are driven out from Bangladesh, the people who are committing the heinous crimes in Bangladesh they will be encouraged.”

"So, it is better to say stop doing this kind of communal activities in Bangladesh, or wherever, even in India."

Nasiruddin, the president of Sammilito Sanskritik Jote, made this comment during the fourth round of the Bangladesh-India Friendship Dialogue in New Delhi.

Nasiruddin’s remark comes within a week of Indian politician Narendra Modi’s assurance of shelter for Hindus from Bangladesh.

In a recent pledge Modi said the Hindu refugees will be given Shelter in India while pressing needs to evict “infiltrators from Bangladesh” and in a context of series of post poll communal attacks on the minority in different places in Bangladesh

Modi, chief of the Indian right wing party BJP, is a prime minister candidate in India’s next general elections.
