The law enforcers have foiled the protest rally of Jagannath University (JnU) students at Bangla Bazar intersection on Sunday demanding the recovery of nine residential halls of the university that have been occupied by land grabbers for the last two decades.

The students are continuing their demonstration blockading the Bangla Bazar intersection till filling of this report at 12:45pm.

Hundreds of students have brought out a procession from the university campus around 9am and marched through different streets of Old Dhaka.

Teachers of JnU have also formed a human chain and brought out a procession demanding the same.

Dr Ashok Kumar Saha, proctor of JnU said: “Police have barred the students when the procession was crossing Bangla Bazar intersection.”
