The Speaker of the National Parliament, Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, has said the rule of law must be implemented in order to establish good governance in the country.
She said: “Bangladesh has some effective laws but these laws become ineffective due to lack of implementation. The Lawyers can play a vital role in this regard.”
She made the statement while addressing the 28th annual ceremony of Bangladesh Law Society at Dhaka University premises on Friday morning.
While addressing the programme as special guest, State Minister for Labour Mojibul Haque Chunnu, urged the Supreme Court to uphold the dignity of our mother language.
Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the ceremony at 10am.
Among others, Bangladesh Law Society president A K M Afzalur Monir, Vice-President Mollah Abu Kaysar, General Secretary Sheikh Saifuzzaman, Joint Secretary Keshab Roy Chowdhury, former law minister Abdul Matin Khasru, were present.
