Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in the district on Friday morning to inaugurate the Sylhet Divisional Stadium.
Sheikh Hasina landed at Sylhet Osmani International Airport in an Air Force helicopter at 12:10pm.
Among others, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith accompanied the prime minister.
From the airport, the Awami League president travelled to Sylhet Circuit House. After offering prayers and having lunch there, she will visit mazars of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shah Paran (RA) and offer fateha.
It is her first visit to Sylhet after the formation of the Awami League government for their second consecutive term on January 12.
Later, the premier will open the Sylhet Divisional Stadium in the Lakkatura area on the outskirts of the city at 3:15pm.
After inaugurating the stadium, she will address a meeting of invited guests.
