Last year, Sonam Kapoor had an on-screen brush with politics when she played a political activist in Raanjhanaa.
And now, the actor is all set to play a full-fledged politician in her yet-untitled upcoming film, which is an adaptation of Anuja Chauhan’s book, Battle For Bittora.
In the film, Sonam will be seen playing a “dynamic, good-looking politician,” revealed an insider close to the production team. The film is set against the backdrop of elections.
Sonam’s father, Anil Kapoor will be producing the film that will go on the floors around September-October this year. “Anil has already roped in two writers — Parvez Shaikh (Ghanchakkar, 2013) and Jasmeet Rei — to begin work on the screenplay,” the insider added.
The book is a love story between two up and coming politicians who, despite being in love, are contesting against each other in the elections.
Kapoor is considering three young actors — Imran Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sidharth Malhotra — to play the male lead opposite his daughter.
Apparently, Sonam is a fan of Anuja’s books, and likes the author’s strong, female characters.
