BNP bagged both the upazila chairman posts in the second phase of the upazila election in Meherpur, district Returning Officer Alamgir Hossain said.
BNP-sponsored Morad Ali emerged victorious with 78,249 votes in Gangni upazila. His nearest competitor was Awami League-backed Moklesur Rahman with 58,561 votes.
In Mujibnagar upazila, BNP’s Amirul Islam won with 29,925 votes. His nearest candidate was Ziauddin Biswas, from Awami League, with 26,568 votes.
