BNP has boycotted the election and called a day-long hartal for Sunday in metropolitan city and sadar upazila of Barisal.
City BNP President and central BNP Organising Secretary Advocate Mojibor Rahman Sarwar declared the hartal in a press conference around 11:15am on Thursday.
Mojibor Rahman Sarwar alleged that city Awami League and Chhatra League presidents along with the other members of the parties took control over almost all the 66 vote centres at the beginning of the poll.
He said: “Ousting polling agents of the BNP backed candidates they started putting stamp on the ballots in front of the election officials.”
He claimed that Awami League members have cast more than 50% of the total votes of the centres.
The BNP leader said the rigging of the poll was pre-planned by the ruling party.
BNP leaders, activists and election agents have been arrested without any allegation or warrant even on and before the election-day, he said.
Mojibor said: “The scenario of the vote centres proved that without patronisation of the biased Election Commission and administrative official, so much rigging could not be possible.”
