Emeritus Professor of Dhaka University Dr Anisuzzaman has been honoured with a reception for achieving Padmabhushan, third highest civilian award in India.
World University of Bangladesh (WUB) has accorded him with the reception at a ceremony at National Museum auditorium in the city on Tuesday.
He was awarded a gold medal as a language hero and a replica of Padmaful (lotus) at the function.
Health Minister Mohammad Nasim attended the function as the chief guest with WUB Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdul Mannan Chowdhury in the chair.
While receiving the reception, Anisuzzaman said the country was going through a crisis of values and for such reasons the communal and defeated forces of 1971 got chances to expand them with their evil wishes which was a threat for the democratic and liberation war supporters.
“The country will not get rid of this crisis until the ideology and spirit of the War of Liberation is restored,” he added.
He urged to the young generation to uphold the inspiration of liberation war and to protest the communal forces that wanted to make Bangladesh a communal country.
Speaking at the occasion as chief guest, Health Minister Nasim said: “We have crossing a critical situation as the evil forces of the country is trying hard to make it a communal one and to stop the liberal thoughts.But the government is vowed to protest such forces.”
