State Minister for Labour and Employment MdMujibulHaqChunnu today told the JatiyaSangsad that 12,183 foreign nationals have been working in industries and commerce sectors, reported BSS.
Replying to a question from treasury bench member M Abdul Latif, the minister said the government has issued fresh work permits in favour of 4,329 foreigners and renewed 4,609 work permits in 2013 in the commerce sector.
According to the Board of Investment (BoI), the government has issued new work permits for 1,412 foreigners and renewed work permits of 2,183 foreigners in 2013 in the industries sector, the minister added.
He said citizens from India, China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Philippines, South Korea, Japan, the UK, the US, Singapore, Australia, Thailand, France, Indonesian, Denmark and Spain are working at different industries and commercial establishments.
The government also cancelled the work permits of 350 foreigner workers in 2013, he added.
