Police have recovered arms and ammunition from a farm in the Murad Garo Bazar area in Ghatail upazila of Tangail, which they suspect were left behind while the JMB militants were snatched away on Monday.
The arms included 6 pistols, 8 magazines, 41 rounds of bullets and 4 switch bombs.
Ghatail police station Officer-in-Charge Fazlul Kabir said: “Upon receiving information from a local farmer named Jaynal Abedin, we recovered the arms packed in a box of sweets from a farm land of Murad Garo Bazar around 11:30am on Tuesday.”
Miscreants snatched three convicted JMB men away from a police prison van by throwing bombs at the van while the militants were being taken to Mymensingh from Kashimpur Jail, Gazipur.
Later, Rakib, one of them was held in Sakhipur of Tangail while fleeing in a microbus.
Rakib was killed in a gunfight with police on Monday.
Two of the militants are still on the run.
