Probe body for JnU violence

A five-member probe committee has been formed in response to the violence that took place in Old Dhaka involving students of Jagannath University and police.

Jagannath University Vice Chancellor Mizanur Rahman said the body will be led by Professor Habibur Rahman, a syndicate member and ex-BUET pro-VC.

The committee will submit its report on the cause of the incident within seven days, he added.

On Sunday, about a hundred were injured when students, said to be largely composed of Bangladesh Chhatra League activists, clashed with police during a demonstration.

They have been demanding immediate recovery of Tibbet Hall, one of the dormitories of the university which is said to have been grabbed by local MP Haji Selim.
