Title contenders Bangladesh Ansar defeated Barguna in the men’s section of the 34th National Table Tennis Championship at the Rajshahi Women’s Complex yesterday.
In the other matches of the day, Dinajpur beat Nilfamari 3 – 1, Narail outplayed Moulovi Bazar 3-0, and Munshiganj overpowered Sirajganj 3-0. In the women’s section Ansar beat Narayanganj 3-1, Rajshahi defeated Gaibandha 3-1, Dhaka routed Pabna 3-0 and Shariatpur thrashed Rangamaty 3-0.
Fazle Hossen Badsha, M.P. Rajshahi Sadar inaugurated the meet as the chief guest. Helal-Uddin Ahmed, Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner was the special guest. Mohammad Mezbauddin Chowdhury, District Comm, Rajshahi, Shamsul Alam Anu, general secretary, South Asian Table Tennis Federation, Zobera Rahman Linu general secretary, BTTF, Khandoker Hasan Munir Sumon chief coordinator, Tournament Committee and Rabfus Shams Paddy of Ragshahi DSA were also present on the occasion.
