At least four people have been killed and 25 others injured in a head-on collision between a pickup van and a truck at Uttar Wapda Bazar under Sadar upazila of the district on Tuesday night.
The deceased were identified as Belal Hossain, 30, of Purbarajapur village, Jahid, 28, of Ayubpur village, Md Nur Nabi, 50, and Azad, 27, of Purba charuria village under Sadar upazila.
Officer-in-Charge of Shudharam model police station Mosharaf Hossain Tarafdar said the accident occurred when a pickup van carrying 41 labourers collided head-on with a truck at 11pm, leaving four dead on the spot and 25 others injured.
The injured were admitted to Noakhali Medical College Hospital.
Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. The bodies were sent to the hospital morgue for post-mortem.
