A person died on the Dhaka-Tangail highway after being run over by a passenger bus in Tangail Sadar upazila on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased was one Uzzal Miah, 30, son of Noya Miah from Mirzapur upazila, who was a motorcycle mechanic by profession, according to police.
A Dhaka-bound passenger bus ran over Uzzal at Khudirampur in Sadar upazila, Alenga; highway police outpost in-charge Seargent Kamruzzaman said.
“Uzzal was driving a motorcycle to Tangail Sadar. He died on the spot after being run over,” he said.
Agitated locals blockaded the Dhaka-Tangail highway for 30 minutes, angered over the incident.
