Jubo League activist found dead in Lakshmipur

A Jubo League activist was found dead at Chandpur village in Lakshmipur district on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Shahadat Hossain Tipu, son of Azizur Rahman, of Gopalpur village and a Jubo League activist.

Police said they recovered the body from the roadside upon getting information from the locals and sent it to the Sadar Hospital for post mortem.

Locals claimed that three bullet wounds were noticed on his body.

Family members said miscreants had called Tipu over the phone in the early hours of the day. However, he did not return home after attending their call around 12am.

District Jubo League Joint Convener AKM Salauddin Tipu confirmed his identity as a party activist to the Dhaka Tribune.

Duttapara Police Investigation Centre In-Charge Wahid said: “Tipu was a terrorist and a member of the local criminal gang.”

“He was wanted in many cases, including robbery, snatching and other criminal charges,” he added.

The SI added that they were trying to identify the culprits behind the killing.
