Poll violence victim policeman dies

Constable M Imam Uddin, who sustained burn injuries during pre-poll violence, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) early on Wednesday.

Imam was a constable at Laxmipur sadar police station and a resident of Noakhali.

He sustained burn injuries in a petrol bomb attack while discharging his duty at a polling centre in Kumartola Government Primary School in Laxmipur on January 4, reports UNB.

Ramganj police station Officer-in-Charge M Lokman Hossain said: “Imam had come under an attack carried out by the activists of the then BNP-led 18-party opposition alliance around 9pm on January 4.”

The OC said he succumbed to his injuries around 1:30am on Wednesday after fighting for his life for one month and nine days.
